☕ Professional Development 101
Questions to ask during your interviews & more.
Here are a few things you should know before reading:
This newsletter is for everyone who has no idea what they want to do or wants to shift careers.
All of the tools and information we provide are backed up by research and statistics.
We mainly focus on lucrative and rewarding fields with a high growth rate over the next 10 years.
Surprise Letter: Reply to any of our emails with your birthday so that we can send you a surprise on that day. 🙃
ENJOY!
Deep Intro:
Getting really serious and philosophical kind of goes off-brand, but maybe it’s something you needed to hear read today.
Self-hatred:
stemming from the inability to recognize that you’re doing enough.
There’s so much stigma around gaslighting, but what about us manipulating ourselves? We’re always perceiving everything as a race and setting standards to live up to, but why do we keep forgetting that the process comes before the results?
What if the ugly duckling just stayed as it is?
Does it have to turn into a swan?
Can’t it just become a goose?
There are tons of species of ducks out there, then why on earth were we taught to reach the same, generic benchmark? Centering our lives around social approval and reverence; always torn between an array of choices.
You know what?
Be whatever sort of duck you wanna be.
You may not have everyone’s permission to do so.
But you always have our support.

Little pep-talk : over
On to some professional lists, now.
Questions to ask at the end of an interview so the HR would dream about you:
In your opinion, what sets your company apart from its competitors?
What could your company be doing that they aren’t doing right now?
Are there some new employee initiatives that you’ve implemented in the past few years?
What’s one aspect you would improve about your company if you could?
Is there anything regarding my resume or what we’ve discussed today that still instills doubt about my abilities to excel? And may I clear that up?
How would you describe the most important soft skill required to succeed in this role? (Tip: Ask this as an answer to the ‘Where do you see yourself in X years?’ question.)
How to negotiate your salary if it’s low:
Express gratitude for the offer.
Mention something positive/compliment them.
Emphasize that their offer is considerably lower than your expected market value. (Use the word' ‘humbly’ just in case.)
Present 2-3 skills of yours that contribute to your competitiveness.
Finally, tell them around what ranges do you believe someone in your position is paid.
Some interesting things we found this week:
(Rest assured, they’re not irrelevant 🙃.)
1) The future of consciousness:
2) Complexities of mental illness in the workplace:
And of course,
3) How you’re killing it every day 😏 .
Keep showing up ‘cause sooner or later, you’ll get there.
(Insert rizz skills section with Progress Rundown.)
Sadly, our short letter must to an end, and it’s time to return to our individual sufferings.
Note: We’ll be sending shorter emails for the following month.
But we’d love to know your opinions on today’s letter :)!
Signing out,
The Rundown Team.
